Establishment of Committee for SC/ ST
(As per the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, No. 33 of 1989, dated 11.09.1989)

The role of this Committee is to prevent atrocities against SC/ST students in accordance with the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (Act No. 33), as mandated by AICTE guidelines. The committee provides a mechanism for students to seek redressal for any related grievances and suggests measures to ensure the feeling of security among SC/ST students.

The specific functions of the Committee include:

  • Counselling and Guiding: Providing advice and guidance to SC/ST students to help them manage any academic or personal issues they may face.
  • Monitoring Grants: Overseeing the timely distribution of e-grants to the eligible beneficiaries.
  • Information Dissemination: Informing SC/ST students about various scholarships and programs offered by the State Government and UGC.
  • Grievance Redressal: Serving as a dedicated Grievances Redressal Cell to handle the complaints of SC/ST students and provide necessary assistance in resolving their academic and administrative problems.
  • Prevention of Atrocities: Working actively to ensure the prevention of atrocities against SC/ST students, thereby upholding the provisions of the Act.
